Hello everyone, Derek caroll replied to someone about a day ago explaining how match making in destiny works. what he said in the Maybe a dumb question but does this also mean that there if you have a bad connection you're going to be paired with a others with bad connections? So then there's a. 20 Sep Bungie is not completely satisfied with the state of Destiny 2's PvP. In Bungie's latest weekly blog post, the developer said while the Quickly Crucible playlist is " working as we had hoped," the Competitive playlist is running into some issues. Specifically, it's a matter of unfair matches happening too often. SBMM was present in Destiny 1 and it nearly killed the game entirely from a PvP perspective, at least for myself and many others. I can not stress . Once the open beta/full game drops there will be a much higher number of solo players/ small teams and SBMM will work roughly the same as it does now.

Other than that it's pretty rare for the lobby to be lag free and I live in California near a major metro and play with a strong wired connection. The way the game rotates hosts leads to fluctuating latency during a match. Let's just get that out of the way. I don't know what it means but the number of people I've seen lagging with a green bar is uncountable. Haha they knew exactly what they were doing with that auto rifle change and it has brought them into relevancy again.
Media I made a flow chart explaining how the PvP matchmaking in Destiny works. Hello everyone, Derek caroll replied to someone about a day ago explaining how match making in destiny works.
Destiny MM doesn't "favor" skill over connection. In a nutshell, we attempt to find the best connections within a skill range, and if we can't find a good match, we expand the skill range and try again. If it's taking you minutes to find a match, it's not because we're waiting to find you the perfect How Does Destiny Pvp Matchmaking Work match, it's because we're having trouble finding you a good connection.
We give up on skill almost immediately, because it's less important than having low latency. He went into some details explaining how the matchmaking in destiny works. I decided to make a flow chart to make it even easier to understand. Here is the Flow Chart: This flow chart pretty much makes games where players from Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Seattle, and the UK are all matched together without involving the use of fireteams impossible. And yet they happen regularly for high skill players.
That leaves three possibilities:. The info is total bs. It seems that skill is priority and then comes the connection. I play the click here more than enough to notice how MM works.
And it certainly does not put connections over skill. I keep playing people that have bad internet or are no where near me. However the MM is so bad and inconsistent that it is sometimes the other way How Does Destiny Pvp Matchmaking Work.

I get the bad teammates that are no where near my skill. However because im above average i get put in that team to compensate the better enemy team.
This drivers me crazy sometimes. Ill be playing out of my mind getting kills and my teammates will go It will be a close match and therefore i get put in the same team with the same scrubs in my team.
You left off another possibility I'm a lifetime 1.
Bungie Admits They Stealth Implemented Skill-Based Matchmaking in Destiny
In theory I should be drawing from a pretty large pool of potential players. I experience a considerable number long MM waits, and 5-on-6 or 4-on-5 starts. My personal guess all guess guaranteed wrong or your money backusing the model read article outlined above, is that their skill bands are How Does Destiny Pvp Matchmaking Work narrow; resulting in multiple expansions and the long MM waits You mean the one that created the most OP gun in the game right now?
Haha they knew exactly what they were doing with that auto rifle change and it has brought them into relevancy again.
I was referring not so much to the amount, as to the complete cluster that was the announcement, and lack of internal communication. The back end and the mouth piece were not reading from the same script. They since nerfed them by a couple of whole percent. Because they have an insane TTK for how forgiving it is and with persistence they can deal that damage at a very high range.
That's the nature of the Internet. The way the game rotates hosts leads to fluctuating latency during a match.
I also wouldn't underestimate the fact that the player base is shrinking, especially outside the US. I really don't believe they give up on skill almost immediately. I'm not really burdened with this problem but get lots of games with less than full lobbies when I'm playing well. I have one of those link routers that identifies the IP address of people I play with.
In one game I had people from 3 different continents out of the five players I was playing against. There must be hundreds of thousands of people playing at any one time. You can't tell me there are not 6 other players in the uk in my skill band online at one time. I just enjoy a game that I can get a decent connection too.
And destiny is not that game. There's a lot more going on in matchmaking than just how many people are online and how good they are. There may be something weird going on with it matching you with foreign players instead of waiting longer but people would complain about long matchmaking times too.

So the people in the this web page lands or Europe have a better connection than people in the UK with me? I can join a tower instance with people from my same city yet can only play PvP with people from overseas? Stop patronising us Bungie. Often times it's people who are in fireteams and one or more will have a shit connection but I still see solo red bar god warriors.
Just about the only time I can be sure lag will be good is if the daily is a 3v3 mode and I cue up solo. How Does Destiny Pvp Matchmaking Work than that it's pretty rare for the lobby to be lag free and I live in California near a major metro and play with a strong wired connection. While I'm bitching about crucible I wish they would change back to the good ole days when a green bar meant a good connection.
Now a green bar means I don't know what it means but the number of people I've seen lagging with a green bar is uncountable. There is lag but usually it's not game changing. It sounds like he doesn't understand what he's saying at all.
The second sentence immediately contradicts the first. They don't "favor" but the first culling of the available player pool is based on skill. I have played in the daily playlist and recognised half How Does Destiny Pvp Matchmaking Work other team multiple times. And recognised their latencies. Something weird is going on.
So, what captfrost said. I don't believe them when they say How Does Destiny Pvp Matchmaking Work MM hasn't changed. We'll see what happens. He spent 3 hours trying to get 7 wins last night. Finished out the night in Mayhem Clash and said full fire teams, but still garbage connections on 2 or 3 players every time. Some were teammates, others opponents. Maybe a dumb question but does this also mean that there if you have a bad connection you're going to be paired with a others with bad connections?
So then there's a bunch of matches out there where everyone's just soaking up bullets and walking through walls like zombie jesus? Search again until the skill gap is so tight the connection is all but lost. And that's the problem we have with the crucible guys. What they are saying just does not match up to what we are seeing. All I have to say is that this cluster fuck of whether its skill based or connection based didnt fucking exist in Y1. It was instant connection and it was great.
